Bank Of America: Defining Suck in 2009

Posted by ShredderFeeder on July 8, 2009 in General |

So here is the start of what might prove to be a long line of rants about Bank Of America, and the *REAL* evil empire.

On June 30 I closed my BofA account, terminating a 15 year relationship with the bank.  I did this because after years of a perfect payment record and then paying my credit cards off, they then closed both of my credit cards.  I feel like they really didn’t want my business.

After I closed my account i started getting email notifications that my account was overdrawn.  “This couldn’t be” I said to myself (Actually, it went more like “What the fuck….”)

Apparently, on July 1, they re-opened my account and charged me a $29.95 service charge.

Then they charged me a $35 dollar Insufficient Funds Fee, which they have been charging almost daily since then.

When I went in to say “Excuse me you’ve made a mistake..” the idiot behind the counter told me this, and I’m *QUOTING* here:

“We can charge you whatever we want to, and if you value your credit record you’ll just go ahead and pay it.”

Quote.  Direct quote.  If you don’t pay us we’ll cause you harm for something you had nothing to do with.

Sounds like the textbook definition of blackmail to me.

Yes, I’m publically accusing BofA of criminal acts.

And I’m so convinced I’m right I think tomorrow I’ll take a jaunt down to the local district courthouse and accuse them of it officially.

I had a similar problem with HSBC. The past couple months they started charging me an insufficient funds fee when I was clearly not below their minumum. I went in to complain and they reimbursed me. Then I cancelled my account and made it joint with my husband’s. Soon afterwards, they charged him insufficient funds fees, when he was also WAYYYY over the minimum. After talking to the bank manager, he said a lot of people have been coming in complaining of BS fees and charges on their accounts. Unfortunately it seems like every bank has some sort of scheme. I’m thinking of the ole ‘cash under the mattress’ method from now on.

I, too, have divorced BofA and all the others. If I don’t have the cash, I can’t buy it. Which of course means I have less stuff. But it’s paid for! :-)

    Two words: Financial Rape.

OK, that was 4 words if you count when I wrote “Two words.”

    Anyway, screw you BofA.
