Sadly, that's true of almost all computer manufacturers these days so I can't afford to let it be a disqualifying factor. And I still do. I bought a remaindered 2010 Macbook, and did *NOT* buy it directly from Apple, though I'm sure the wholesaler I bought it from did. I did NOT buy the stupid extended warranty (which is just an excuse for manufacturers to charge people who can't replace a harddrive an extra $400) and i will probably never *EVER* set foot in an Apple Store.What I fail to understand is why people now expect me to replace all of my OTHER systems with Apple. The MacBook seems to be a good travel PC. (Under the covers after all, it is still just an Intel based PC with a highly customized OS on it)No - my desktop does things that a Mac could *NEVER* do, well for under $10k that is.See I can put a pair of NVidia 580 series network cards and have a SCREAMING gaming system for under $1000. I can get 90% of the software I need to work for cheap or free though the open source market, and most of it is actually BETTER than purchased software. (Anyone who uses GIMP for image manipulation can tell you that)And oh, Apple doesn't make a server of any kind anymore. They totally failed at it.It's a tool. Not a religion. I don't see people walking up to construction workers saying "Are you a DeWalt or a Black&Decker"?
