What does “Custom” webhosting mean?  It means that instead of a ‘point-and-click’ solution, we will work with you to create an environment suited to your needs.  Whether it’s LAMP hosting (Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP), CFML, or even Windows IIS.  We’ll work with you to ensure the environment is right for your needs.

What?  No CPanel?

No.  CATBytes currently doesn’t use CPanel or any other “all-in-one” toolkit.  Our operators perform changes as requested.  The reasoning behind this is simple.

PHPadmin, cpanel, webmin, introduce security and stability problems on every level.

We’d rather do it right than do it easy.

Backups

The biggest complaints I’ve heard about the “big” hosting companies are lack of response during an outage, and lack of a coherently defined backup strategy.  Our backup policy is simple.

*A full system image of every webserver is taken every night.  A full image can be restored within 60 minutes of a detected full server failure.  This provides a Recovery Time of 60 minutes and a Recovery Point to within 24 hours.

*A full filesystem and database backup is taken twice daily of every individual website.  This allows for individual files to be restored as needed.  This provides a Recovery Time of 5 minutes and a Recovery Point of within 12 hours.
